Threads through Revelations

Textile artist Jacqui Parkinson explores one of the most enigmatic books of the Bible, Revelations, through a series fourteen huge embroideries in the Quire Aisles.

Her technique and style is as unusual as the subject matter - and possibly unique - a combination of painted dyes, multi-layered silks cut to create an extraordinary frayed effect and then metallic leather stitched on top.

The panels burst with stories of war, slaughter, judgement, resurrection and creation.

Salisbury Craft Tales

From wool to cloth and stone to sculpture, storyteller Lizzie Bryant takes inspiration from the raw riches of nature, woven and shaped by human endeavor and artistry to create an object of beauty and usefulness.

With hand and eye, head and heart, working with nature’s bounty, the master craftsperson works with, and passes on skills and traditions that have been handed down and evolved since the dawn of human time.  Lizzie Bryant steps back to the bustle of medieval Salisbury, with the towering cathedral at its heart to find her stories: A splendid cloth fit for a king’s visit to the cathedral;  A tomb effigy fit for the memory a famous knight...

Join her on the Cloister Garth, under the Lebanese Cedar Tree at the following times daily!
